Transformation Stories

Prakash develops himself as a model farmer
Prakash Thapa is 27 years old resident of Kukhure village-8 Mahakali Village Development Committee. He has four family members including his parents, wife and son. The main occupation of his family is agriculture and livestock. Prakash stayed in city Kathmandu and works in marketing for few years. Later he is not satisfied with his job so decided to go back home and support family in agriculture.

In the past Nepal has faced disasters such as landslide, floods and drought. The disasters have caused great loss to the human lives and further increased poverty and vulnerability. In this context it is essential to prepare the community to be better prepared for disaster and cope with the consequences of disasters effectively.

 

Key Objective:

The community will have increased ability to cope with disasters and are better prepared to face disasters.

 

Activities :

  • Equipping community groups and mobilizing community for disaster response.
  • Mobilization of different community groups in Plantation and preparing check dam at the community level
  • Linkages and networking with District and National level Disaster Response Team
  • Promoting awareness of disaster among different community groups
