Education and Literacy

You are here : Home » What Work We Do » Education and Literacy

About half of the population of Nepal is still illiterate. The rate among the women is higher than men.  The school drop-out rate is also very high mainly due to poverty.  The quality of education in schools is often poor and teaching methods are traditional and not student friendly. Infrastructure and equipment is lacking and many schools in the rural areas do not have higher education facilities.

Key Objective:

Increased literacy among the rural community and access to quality education.

  • Organize Life Relevant Education programs for the community groups
  • Strengthening management system in schools and capacity strengthening of school management committee members and teachers
  • Provision for Sponsorship for poor students
  • Facilitate especial classes for school drop out children and educate the parents
  • Increase investment for upgrading schools and establish laboratory, library and computer classes
