  • Awareness through mobile ring tone

    The major use of mobile is observed to; listen music, play ringbones, capture video and photographs, which is often meant for entertainment. To link this entertainment with sensitization and awareness rising, a team of Share and Care registered an awareness song[i] on human trafficking in Namaste, N cell and UTL ring tone list. Those who set up this ring tone will be sensitizing people who make them call through their ring tone song. It is expected that number of people from community, stakeholder and line agencies will be informed through the song.

Urmila Chhepang (25 years old) is a resident of Handikhola VDC of Makwanpur district. When she was young she had to work very hard to earn for living. Her mother was not healthy (often get sick) and her father was drunkard. So she had to manage for living. She thought about going to India for the job when she could not save her mother.

Founder and Director, Share and Care Nepal


He was born in Lamatar, Lalitpur District of Nepal. Starting as a dental assistant in the Dental Department, Patan hospital he developed a deep interest in reaching out to marginalized communities in rural areas. In 1994 he established Share and Care Nepal through which community based health and development projects were initiated in four districts of Nepal.

Over the past 14 years he has gained rich experience in managing projects, providing leadership, human resource development, networking with local, national and international organizations and mobilizing resources. He has participated in a Diploma course in Community Health and Development, CRHP,Jamkhed and Masters in Applied Community Change and Conservation, Future Generations.

He has conducted capacity strengthening programs as resource person for social and development workers, policy makers, local leaders and other community based groups in Nepal, Arunachal, Uttranchal in India and Afghanistan.

In Nepal, Ramesh Khadka also serves as the General Secretary of Micah Network, Nepal and Nepal Mission Association (NMA). He has built contacts with local churches and church based organizations to promote integral mission.

Through his initiatives community based organizations such as WESD and A school for community in Pharping have been started.

Ramesh has travelled widely to learn and share experiences with other international projects in South Asian countries including India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and other developed countries - Australia, England and USA.
