Prakash develops himself as a model farmer
Prakash Thapa is 27 years old resident of Kukhure village-8 Mahakali Village Development Committee. He has four family members including his parents, wife and son. The main occupation of his family is agriculture and livestock. Prakash stayed in city Kathmandu and works in marketing for few years. Later he is not satisfied with his job so decided to go back home and support family in agriculture.

"Prakash develops himself as a model farmer"

 

Prakash Thapa is 27 years old resident of Kukhure village-8 Mahakali Village Development Committee. He has four family members including his parents, wife and son. The main occupation of his family is agriculture and livestock. Prakash stayed in city Kathmandu and works in marketing for few years. Later he is not satisfied with his job so decided to go back home and support family in agriculture.

After returning back from city he wants to do new in agriculture but lack of knowledge, skills and exposure he is not able to begin. When he has come to know about Share and Care Nepal ABCD project then he shows his interest and involved in project activities. He has taken trainings, workshops and an exposure visit program that helps him to learn different useful agriculture techniques, methods and modern tools. He able to established linkages and networks with District Agriculture Office. He gets technical and materials support on agriculture from DAO too. He has exposed and gained knowledge and skill in the area of agriculture which develops his confident to do new experiment in agriculture.

With the support from Share and Care Nepal he has planted 100 fruits plants. After a year of support he added more fruits plants and now he has 200 plants of Litchi, Orange, lemon, Banana, Cardamom etc in his field. He had started vegetables nursery where he produces saplings of verities of vegetables after vegetable farming training. He has able to make a good return from selling vegetables saplings.

This year he has planned to establish 4 vegetable plastic tunnels to produce seasonal and off seasonal vegetables. He is a member of Silame farmer's cooperative of and actively involved in cooperative activities. At present he is supporting on construction work of milk chilling center. The Milk chilling center is going to establish under partnership of Share and Care Nepal and Silame Farmer's Cooperative, Mahakali. "Share and Care Nepal has encourages me to widen my knowledge that develops as a model farmer and build capacity to access government schemes of agriculture service department" he said.
