We Are The Role Model For The Future Generations

Silame Village is situated at Ward no. 5 of Mahakali V.D.C, Nuwakot District. The local residents here are mostly Tamangs and Bhramins. On 12th September, 2011 Share and Care Nepal formed Creative Adolescent Girls Group (CAG) by the Action Based Community Development Program (ABCD) which initially consisted of 20 adolescent girls from the community. This is first time in this village CAG has been formed and stared getting awareness as well as some training by the project in various issues such as importance of sanitation, hyzen, oral health, re-productive health etc.

As soon as CAG members understood the importance of sanitation issues, they decided to organize awareness campaign program. In this village most of the people have no toilets and they are using in open field.  CAG organized one day culture and awareness program concerning the use and construct of toilets for the first time.

Positive feedbacks received from the community members have motivated CAG participants to use their creative skills for the community awareness through such awareness programs in coming days too. CAG is being appreciative of the initiative taken by Share and Care Nepal in awaring, educating and training adolescent girls in the community to empower them with appropriate and adequate knowledge and skills in their young age.

After this program, all members from CAG and there parents built the toilet using local materials and now they are using it. Chairperson of CAG saying "we are the role model for the Future Generations, lets built and use it first so other will follow us"

Such program helps adolescent girls to personally identify and deal with their reproductive health problems and discuss related matters with their family and friends for suggestions and help.
