Kalpana worry about her daughter
'I am worried about my daughter if she would be sold in a brothel like me". This anxiety is of 35 yrs old Kalpana Dimdung, who was sold in the Mumbai brothel 18 yrs ago.
Kalpana Dimdung was born in Jyamire Devkot, Sarikhet VDC of Makwanpur District. When she was child her father left her mother and her mother married with another man. Then the responsibility of her brother & sister came over her own shoulder. One day her sister-in-law persuaded her to go for movie in Hetauda. On the way her sister-in-law gave cold drinks. After drinking it, she felt sleepy. When she awake, she found herself in Mumbai brothel in India. Then she knew she had been sold there. She spent 4 yrs of her life in that hell. Now she didn't want to remember those dark days, tortures which was so painful. One day she got success to come out from that hell with the help of one Nepali customer. When she returned her village, she was not accepted by her family & society. She couldn't get love & respect. After two years she has got married with Damber Bdr. Dimdung at Sarikhet-5 Kerabari. But unfortunately after 14 yrs of her married life her husband died. She has one 13 yrs old daughter & 10 yrs old son who are studying in class 6 & 4 respectively. She has a small piece of land which is enough only for four months to feed. Thus she has to work as labor also. She has been suffered two times from T.B. After husband's death she didn't have interest to do anything. She was feeling so lonely and humiliation. That is why she was not participating in any groups, social gathering in the village.
When Human Liberty project of Share and care Nepal has launched its program and formed women's group in Kerabari, Sarikhet VDC she refused to participate at first. After visiting her many times and counseling her by the Share and Care's staffs, she felt so relief, relaxed and developed self confidence and hope towards her life. Then she involved in the women action group as a member and group members also accepted her. Then she got professional goat farming training from HLP project. Now she is planning to start goat farming business in the village.
Now a days she is very happy. She shares her bitter experiences of her past life to the group and encouraged to participated in anti human trafficking activities in the village to minimize the human trafficking.
