What Work we Do

Poverty Reduction

Poverty is chronic in Nepal, with almost half of the rural population living below the poverty line. The proportion is increasing and so is the depth of poverty. Slow economic growth, coupled with large sections of the population lacking access to agricultural land, has created acute poverty and deprivation among large section of the rural population. Poverty increases with altitude and is very high in inaccessible mountains and hills. Women and girls are poorest among the poor due to socio-economic discrimination.
